Today is Rainbow Baby Day
Normally I would post a picture of a rainbow baby that I've photographed in either rainbow colors or with a rainbow prop, but today I decided to share with you MY rainbow babies.
Ten years ago, we lost twin boys, Elijah and Jeremiah. This was after another miscarriage (our first pregnancy). Elijah was born at 18 weeks gestation and lived for 9 minutes. Jeremiah was born at 23 weeks and 6 days. He spent 5 months in the NICU before joining his siblings in Heaven. He is the reason I became a photographer. He is how I came up with the name Frog Prince (Jeremiah was a Bullfrog).
After being diagnosed with secondary infertility, we had a long road to finding our rainbows. Each of our boys entered into our family in different ways. One through adoption and two through different fertility treatments.
If you've been to our studio, then you've seen the giant 30x40 museum canvas I have of my boys. It is my favorite. A reminder of where we are now.
My rainbow baby clients are some of my favorite to photograph. I can relate to the journey, tears, and struggle to find a rainbow. And those sweet babies I have the honor of holding are miraculous reminders of the hope, prayers, and fight it took during the storm to reach the rainbow at the end.
